We are a nonprofit organization who is entrusted to preserve the history and legacy of the Kentucky Derby, the longest continuously-running sporting event in the country dating back to the first Derby in 1875. Kentucky Derby Museum is located next to Churchill Downs® Racetrack in one of Louisville's historic neighborhoods just 10 minutes from downtown Louisville. Free parking is available on-premise year-round.

The Museum is closed Thursday through Saturday of Derby weekend, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
On rare occasions the Museum closes early for private parties. Check our calendar before your visit.

Track employee (Racing ID required, in-person only)
Pre-scheduled groups of 15 people or more together

TARC Bus Service: You can easily take a bus from the downtown area to the Museum. Visit the TARC website to find route information.
