Au Moon arrives!
The Kentucky Derby Museum recently welcomed a very special guest.
Au Moon, an 9-year-old gelding, joins the Museum as our newest resident Thoroughbred and will greet visitors from the barn area this spring and summer.
Owned by Tim Brown, Au Moon comes with an impressive pedigree that includes Triple Crown winners Secretariat and Seattle Slew in his bloodline. Au Moon made 29 starts in his racing career from 2008 to 2014, finishing with a career record of 6-3-7 and earnings of $188,922.
While Au Moon is new to the Museum, he is no stranger to Churchill Downs. He made 15 starts underneath the spires, winning four times, including his first and last career victories. He also competed in a pair of Graded Stakes, finishing third in the 2009 LeComte Stakes at the Fair Grounds Race Course in New Orleans.
Au Moon was foaled March 10, 2006 by Malibu Moon (sire) and She’s Mahogany (dam).
Visit our Resident Thoroughbred and Miniature Horse page to learn more about the equine in our permanent live exhibit, which you can visit during your trip to the Museum!
