Legends Series with Maker's Mark Bill Samuels, Jr.
The Kentucky Derby Museum hosted Maker’s Mark Chairman Emeritus Bill Samuels, Jr. for the fourth installment of this season’s Legends Series June 2, featuring stories and tales from the seventh-generation distiller.
Samuels led the crowd in tastings of Maker’s Mark, Maker’s Mark 46 and Maker’s Mark Cask Strength while giving insight on how Maker’s rose to be a giant in the bourbon industry. Among the topics he discussed was how Maker’s won the right to trademark its famous bottle, his biggest influencers within the industry and cementing his legacy in the latter part of his career.
Taking questions from Host and Bourbon Authority Fred Minnick and the audience, Samuels showed the colorful personality that has endeared him to so many over the years, while often referring to his family’s contributions to his development.
There remains one final opportunity to take part in the Legends Series this season. Bourbon Historian Mike Veach will join Minnick Aug. 6 at the Museum for another set of stories and history surrounding bourbon. Get your tickets today!
