Kentucky Derby Museum launches Junior Jockey Club for the youngest visitors to the Museum
A fun new way to learn about Thoroughbred industry and Kentucky Derby history for kids!
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 21, 2018) – The Kentucky Derby Museum just launched a fun, interactive way for its youngest visitors to get more engaged with the extraordinary event that is the Kentucky Derby!
Visitors up to age 14 can ask to join the Junior Jockey Club when they arrive. (It’s free to join with the price of your general admission ticket!) Each child will receive a scavenger hunt to complete over the Museum’s two floors of interactive exhibits. Upon completion of the scavenger hunt, the Junior Jockey Club member will receive a certificate featuring the Kentucky Derby winner from the year they were born, including some fun facts as well as a club button and a special bracelet. Guests can also show the bracelet in the Museum’s gift shop for a discount on children’s merchandise.
Come join the Junior Jockey Club and explore the Museum over winter break! Bring your out of town guests and friends to see where the greatest two minutes in sports takes place every year. A 30-minute walking tour of historic Churchill Downs racetrack, our 18 minute, 360° movie, The Greatest Race, and every exhibit area of the Museum is included with your general admission experience. Check out our brand new exhibits, Bill Shoemaker: Larger Than Life and D. Wayne Lukas: A Modern Trainer in our newly expanded second floor.
We are closed Monday, December 24th (Christmas Eve) and Tuesday, December 25th (Christmas Day) but we are open every day following that, including New Year’s Day and New Year’s Eve! Hours are Monday-Saturday, 9am to 5pm and Sunday, 11am-5pm. Plan your visit and purchase advance tickets for admission, tours and more at DerbyMuseum.org
