From a foal’s first steps to the final turn of the track at Churchill Downs, you’ll be able to explore every facet of a Thoroughbred’s life on the Hermitage Farm / Derby Museum Tour. This is an all-day, immersive experience which takes you from the Museum to the Farm and will leave you with a new-found love and appreciation for all things horse racing. 11:00 - 11:30 a.m. | Garden and Sustainability Tour – Walk through the garden and greenhouse to learn about farming and sustainability practices. Learn about Hermitage Farm’s commitment to organic and sustainable practices through their series of terraced gardens, an orchard, and an innovative greenhouse which provide microgreens and produce for Barn8 Farm Restaurant. |
11:30 - 12:30 p.m. | Farm Fresh Lunch* and Farm store visit *Your lunch will include a sandwich or wrap, one side, one pastry, and your choice of cold bottled beverage. |
12:30 - 1:15 p.m. | Bourbon Tasting |
1:15 - 2:15 p.m. | Thoroughbred Tour* - First visit the Sport Horse barn to pet and take pictures with our Lipizzans. The tour continues with the history and legacy of thoroughbreds in Kentucky and specifically at Hermitage Farm. The tour ends after visiting the Thoroughbred horses. *Tours are rain or shine. Umbrellas are prohibited on all horse tours – please dress for the weather! |
